Warranty

Our warranty conditions apply to all Vira cargo bikes

This page explains the warranty period and which parts are covered by warranty.

Warranty
  • Vira guarantees that the Vira cargo bikes are free from construction and/or material defects, as described in these warranty terms.
  • Only the original owner of the Vira cargo bike is eligible to claim warranty.
  • The warranty expires under the conditions described in the articles on this page.
  • The warranty is non-transferable.
  • The warranty period starts on the day of delivery, once the delivery has been accepted and received.
Warranty Period
  • The Vira cargo bike frames have a warranty period of 3 years against construction and/or material defects.
  • The box and box panels have a warranty period of 1 year against construction and/or material defects.
  • Discoloration of the box and/or box components is not covered by the warranty, as this may occur due to daily use or external factors such as UV radiation, moisture, and heat.
  • All electrical components have a 1-year warranty against construction and/or material defects.
  • All other components, excluding wear parts, have a 1-year warranty against construction and/or material defects.
  • All accessories and the charger have a 6-month warranty against construction and/or material defects.
  • There is no warranty on wear parts such as tires, chains, chainrings, cables, and brake pads unless there is a construction and/or material defect.
Maintenance and Warranty Retention
  1. Proper maintenance is essential for the lifespan of any bicycle, including your cargo bike.
  2. Perform an initial inspection after 500 km or within 4–12 weeks after purchase to maintain your warranty.
  3. Maintenance may be carried out by our Vira technicians or a certified bicycle mechanic.
  4. Keep receipts from the mechanic as proof of maintenance.
  5. Maintenance costs are not reimbursed.
Warranty Exclusions

The warranty will be void in the following cases:

  1. The Vira cargo bike has not demonstrably (with receipt/invoice) received an initial maintenance check within 4–12 weeks or 500 km after delivery.
  2. The Vira cargo bike has not demonstrably (with receipt/invoice) received annual maintenance following the initial inspection.
  3. If defects are the result of incorrect assembly, i.e., assembly deviating from the included instructions, as found on the website.
  4. In the case of improper and/or careless use of the Vira cargo bike not in accordance with its intended purpose, such as:
    1. Riding on and off curbs with full load;
    2. Colliding with curbs;
    3. Riding on two wheels with a three-wheeled cargo bike.
  5. Technical repairs not professionally performed.
  6. Aftermarket parts that do not match the technical specifications of the cargo bike or are incorrectly installed.
  7. Lack of proof of ownership.
  8. Exceeding the maximum load of the cargo box (70 kg).
  9. Loading the saddle with more than 100 kg.
  10. Loading the luggage carrier with more than 25 kg.
  11. Damage due to accidents or other external causes.

Furthermore, Vira is explicitly not liable for damage to (parts of) the Vira cargo bike resulting from:

  • Incorrect adjustment/tension of handlebars, stem, saddle, seat post, derailleur set, brakes, gears and/or loosening of parts, truing wheels and spokes during use, as well as spoke breakage.
  • Failure to replace components like brake/derailleur cables, brake pads, tires, chain, and cogs in a timely manner.
  • Weather effects such as normal wear of paint or rust on chrome.
  • Weather effects such as discoloration of paint and box panels.
Use of cargo bikes for rental purposes.
Labor Costs for Warranty on Parts
  1. During the warranty period, all parts identified by Vira as having material and/or construction defects will, at Vira’s discretion, be repaired or reimbursed. Any (dis)assembly costs are at the owner’s expense, unless the owner is not expected to be able to install the replacement part themselves.
  2. Contrary to the above, in the case of material and/or construction defects of frames and front forks, labor costs will be covered by Vira for a period of two years from the purchase date.
Tips for a Long Life of Your Vira
  1. Carefully read the included user manual before use.
  2. Protect your Vira against frost and use a Vira cover if the bike cannot be stored under a roof overnight.
  3. Clean your Vira regularly, but do not use a high-pressure cleaner, as this can damage electrical components or the paintwork. In such cases, your warranty may be void.
Submitting a Warranty Claim to Vira
  • Claims under this warranty must be submitted by email, including the order number, frame number, and a photo of the relevant part so that Vira can assess whether it qualifies as a warranty issue.
  • Vira will acknowledge or reject the claim within a reasonable period. If the defect cannot be assessed without a physical inspection of the cargo bike, a suitable solution will be discussed with the owner.
  • Before sending a replacement product, Vira may require the defective product to be sent in for assessment. Based on this, Vira may decide that the product is not covered or will send a replacement.
  • Transport costs for the Vira cargo bike and/or parts to and from Vira are the owner’s responsibility, unless the part is covered under warranty.
  • If a part is covered by the warranty but the original part is no longer available, Vira will provide a comparable alternative at minimum.
